Deactivating a Group

The EL6910 and EK1960 devices provide the capability of deactivating individual groups by means of an online command. A "group" is understood to be a POU (EtherCAT Safety) running in the EtherCAT Safety Module with its associated logical devices.

. A group is deactivated in the safety module. This has the following effects:
  • The POU (EtherCAT Safety) does not run and cannot be started by RUN.

  • The safe field devices in the group are in a fail-safe state.

  • The other POUs get substitute values when they read outputs of the FB instances in the POUs.

Procedure. Deactivate a group in 3 steps:
  1. Configure the deactivation methods for a group.

    1. In the device tree, select the POU object and click the Properties command in the context menu.

    2. Click the Deactivation tab.

    3. Set the desired method. For details, see the POUs chapter.

Deactivation can be permanent or temporary.

  2. Configure the substitute values in case the group is deactivated.

For information about defining he substitute values, see: Displaying Substitute Values after Deactivation

  3. Use the online commands Command: Deactivate / activate group to deactivate and reactivate the groups which can be deactivated.
