Command: Multiple Download

Function: The command generates the code for applications and safety applications contained in the project, and downloads the applications and safety applications to the respective controllers.

The description here is limited to the downloading of safety applications.

The command opens a dialog with a list of applications and safety applications. In the dialog, you can select the standard applications as well as the safety applications to be downloaded.

After selecting the applications, the following preliminary steps are performed for each selected safety application:

  • Syntactic validation of the safety application

  • Check of the communication path and if the connection to the controller has not been confirmed yet: Dialog Connect to Safety Controller (for a description of the dialog, see Connecting to a Confirmed Controller).

  • Check whether a download is necessary:

    • If the safety application already exists on the safety controller, then a download is not performed. If the safety application is pinned, then the Login dialog may open, which you simply confirm by clicking OK.

    • If an application does not exist on the controller or if another application exists on the controller, then the Download Safety Application to Controller dialog opens (for a description of the dialog, see Login – Safety). In this dialog, click Create Boot Application.

  • Dialog Authorization

    This dialog opens only in the case that the Create Boot Application command was executed in the Download Safety Application to Controller dialog.

  • Dialog Create Boot Application (for a description, see Create Boot Application). Click Yes to confirm this dialog.

After all downloads, the following final steps are performed for each selected safety application:

  • Message regarding the successful creation of the boot application (as for the Create Boot Application command)

  • Dialog prompting whether the boot application should be restarted on the safety controller (for a description of the dialog, see the Restart command)

    When you click Yes to confirm this dialog, you get feedback that debug mode has ended and the boot application has started (for a description of the dialog, see Logout – Safety).

The multiple download ends with a list of all selected applications and safety applications.
