Starting the Runtime System

Note: A valid license has to be installed on your PC to operate the runtime system. If not, then the controller starts in the fully functional, but time-limited demo mode.

Tip

In the case of the runtime systems, these are device licenses. You activate these licenses in the License Manager.

  1. Start CODESYS Control RTE by means of the command Start PLC in the CODESYS Control RTE menu (_cds_icon_rtev3_systray_stopped.png).

If the symbol in the system tray is not available, then make sure that the installation is correct. By double-clicking the file CODESYSControlRTESysTray.exe in the installation directory of CODESYS Control RTE, you can start the display of the user interface manually in the system tray.

The symbol in the system tray changes to _cds_icon_rtev3_systray_running.png after starting CODESYS Control RTE.

  2. The following instructions describe how to create a simple CODESYS application to run on the CODESYS Control RTE.

Tip

In the case of CODESYS Control Win, this is a device license. You activate this license in the License Manager.

Automatic start:

If CODESYS Control Win should start automatically when the system starts, then you need to configure the service as follows: Open the Windows Services system dialog from the start menu of your computer. In the list, select the service CODESYS Control Win V3 and open the Properties dialog from the context menu. On the General tab, set the Start type to Automatic.

Manual start:

In the system bar, right-click the _cds_icon_winv3_stopped.png symbol or _cds_icon_winv3_stopped64.png symbol and click Start PLC in the menu. If the symbol is missing in the system bar, then make sure that the installation is correct and the display in the system bar is started. Additional note: By double-clicking the file CODESYSControlSysTray.exe in the installation directory of GatewayPLC, you can start the display of the user interface manually in the system tray.

After a successful start, the CODESYS Control Win symbol in the system bar changes to _cds_icon_winv3_running.png or _cds_icon_winv3_running_64.png.
