View: PLCs – List View

Function: The view shows all PLCs that are configured on the CODESYS Automation Server and provides dialogs for configuring and handling the PLCs.

Search

Input field for a search string in order to find a specific PLC name, serial number, Edge Gateway, or tag

The PLCs that are registered on the CODESYS Automation Server are displayed as tiles.

Every PLC is displayed with the following information:

  • Name of the PLC on the server

  • Status

  • Target ID

  • Device type

  • Firmware version

  • Device name: Name of the PLC in the network

  • Gateway

  • Synchronized

  • Actions: _cas_icon_details.png _cas_icon_open_visu.png _cas_icon_delete_small.png_cas_icon_lock.png

_cas_icon_list_view.png

The PLCs which are registered on the CODESYS Automation Server are displayed as a list.

The displayed columns can be configured by means of the list box of the cas_icon_configure_columns.png button which is located at the end of the list. The following columns are displayed by default:

  • Name: Name of the PLC in the network

  • Status:

  • Update available: ca_icon_update_available.png: A new version of the application is available on the Automation Server which has not yet been transferred to the PLC.

  • Project: Clicking on the project name opens the CODESYS Projects view. Can be sorted

  • Sync: Display whether parameters and applications are synchronized

  • Actions: _cas_icon_parameter_black.png _cas_icon_open_visu.png _cas_icon_lock.png_cas_icon_delete_small.png

  • _cas_icon_option_empty.png: If one or more PLCs are selected, then the following actions can be performed for these PLCs:

    • _cas_icon_delete_small.png: Delete PLC

    • _cas_icon_notification_sc.png/_cas_icon_notification_no.png: Enable or disable notifications

    • cas_icon_non_sync.png: Synchronize applications and parameters or end synchronization

    • cas_icon_encrypted.png: Opens the Encrypted Communication dialog where the encrypted communication between the Edge Gateway and the PLC can be tested and enabled. If this encrypted communication has not yet been set up, then this can be done using the Quick Setup (cas_icon_encrypted_add.png).

    • cas_icon_encrypted_add.png: Opens the Encrypted Communication Quick Setup dialog to set up encrypted communication between the Edge Gateway and the PLC.

    • _cas_icon_lock.png: Change permissions for multiple objects

    • _cas_icon_application.png: Execute the Start, Stop, Reset Warm, or Reset Cold commands on the applications. This opens the Manage Applications dialog.

Using the cas_icon_configure_columns.png list box, the following columns can also be displayed:

  • Version

  • Application: Clicking the application name opens the Application view.

  • Commit: Application commit which is installed on the PLC

    cas_icon_three_dots.png: The commit message is displayed.

  • Device: Device information about Vendor and Name

  • Notifications

  • Tag

Sorting options: All columns except Actions and Tags can be sorted.

Selection possibility: Multiselection is possible.

When a PLC is selected, the _cas_icon_edit_user.png Edit Tags and _cas_icon_delete_small.png buttons are displayed. Multiple PLCs can be deleted here at the same time.

Status

  • _cas_icon_green_circle.png: The CODESYS Automation Server is connected to the PLC.

    When the connection between the Edge Gateway and the PLC is encrypted, the cas_icon_encrypted.png symbol is displayed next to this symbol.

  • _cas_icon_debug.png: The PLC is in debug mode.

    Debugging the application on the PLC can be performed from CODESYS by means of the commands in the Debug menu (for example, setting breakpoints and writing and forcing values). For more information, see: Using the Automation Server as a Gateway for Remote Debugging

  • _cas_icon_red_circle.png: The CODESYS Automation Server is not connected to the PLC.

  • _cas_icon_red_circle.png: The PLC is in an error state.

  • _cas_icon_grey_circle.png: The connection state is unknown (for example, the Edge Gateway is not connected to the server).

  • cas_icon_app_sync_problem_white.png

    • An exception was thrown when transferring an application to the PLC.

    • The transferred application is not compatible with the PLC.

Display of added tags for the PLCs

When you click a tag in the tile view, the displayed PLCs are filtered by this tag.

The tooltip displays whether or not the parameters and applications are synchronized.

Details

Opens the PLC Details view

When you click the name of a PLC, the PLC Details view opens in the PLC list.

Web Visualizations

  • When the Synchronize applications option is selected on the server, a menu opens with the web visualizations of the project on the PLC.

  • When the Synchronize applications option is not selected on the server, a menu opens with the names of the .htm files which are located in the visualization folder on the PLC.

You click a web visualization to open it on the server.

Opens the PLC Files view for managing the files on the PLC.

_cas_icon_lock.png

Opens the <PLC> Permissions dialog to grant permissions for access to the PLC

_cas_icon_delete.png

Opens a dialog to confirm whether or not to delete the PLC from the server.

_cas_icon_parameter_black.png

Opens the Parameters for PLC: <PLC name> dialog In the dialog, you can specify values for the displayed variables that are written on the PLC.

Opens the following list box for configuring the columns to be displayed.
