How To: Request CA-signed certificates via the security screen and load them to the device
Creating a certificate signing request (CSR)
The project is connected to the controller with runtime system ≥ V3.5 SP22.
The CODESYS Security Agent add-on is installed.
Click the View → Security Screen command.
Click the Devices tab and then click the refresh button (
).On the left side, select the corresponding device.
Select the Use Cases folder. All possible use cases will be displayed on the right side.
In the window on the right side, select the suitable use case.
Click the
button to create a new CSR. The Certificate Signing Request Settings dialog will open.Click OK to confirm the selected components.
This signing request will be visible in the Signing Requests entry.
Click the Signing Requests entry and select the CSR for which you want to request the CA signing.
Click the
button to save the selected CSR from your device to your PC. Save the CSR accordingly.The
.csrfile generated for the CSR can be submitted to the respective CA.
Loading a CA-signed certificate to the device
The project is connected to the controller with runtime system ≥ V3.5 SP22.
The CA-signed certificate is signed by the respective CA authority and is available for download.
Click the View → Security Screen command.
Click the Devices tab and then click the refresh button (
).On the left side, select the corresponding device.
Below the Certificates entry, select the Trusted folder.
Click the
button. In the browser, select the CA-signed certificate (.cerfile) for download to the device.Click Open and then click OK to confirm the subsequent message.
