License Container

A license container is the physical storage where the licenses are stored. A license container can be located on a local machine or on a network.

. Features
  • License containers can be deployed locally or on the network, depending on the configuration.

  • A license container can contain multiple licenses.

  • A license container is usually bound to hardware characteristics. This prevents the license from being transferred to other devices and therefore duplicated.

. Wibu offers various license containers, including the following:
  • CmActLicense: License container in the local file system

    . Features:
    • A CmActLicense container is bound to hardware characteristics of the target system.

    • In a CODESYS CmActLicense container, only CODESYS firm codes can be installed.

  • CmDongle: License container on a dongle (USB or SD card)

    . Features:
    • The license on a CmDongle container is bound to the internal hardware serial number of the dongle.

    • Licenses from different manufacturers can be installed in a CmDongle container.
