Compatibility check

The project SML_CompatibilityCheck_DS402.project can help you check whether your drive is suitable for use with 0_Global: Product SoftMotionLight . The project is located in the standard installation of 0_Global: Brand in the subdirectory CODESYS/CODESYS SoftMotion/Examples/SoftMotionLight. The project contains a wizard created from a visualization to guide you through the different test steps.

The test project can be run with the free trial version of CODESYS SoftMotion Light which is included in the SoftMotion package. Note the basic requirements for using a drive with CODESYS SoftMotion Light.

Test execution

  1. Open the project SML_CompatibilityCheck_DS402.project and replace the included device tree part (EtherCAT_Master, Accelnet EtherCAT-Panel, SM_Drive_ETC_GenericDSP402) with the configuration corresponding to your hardware. The axis can be located below an EtherCAT slave or a CAN slave. Important: The axis still has to be named Drive in order for the test program to work.

  2. In the dialogs of the device editors, configure your device for use with CODESYS SoftMotion Light. For more information, see: Configuration and Commissioning

  3. Connect the project to the controller (Online - Login) and start it.

  4. Start the "MainVisu" visualization (double-click the item in the device tree).

    The visualization starts as a wizard that you guides you through the individual test steps. Corresponding instructions, error message, and explanations are displayed.

At the end, you will see a page with the test results, and you will know whether you can use your drive with CODESYS SoftMotion Light.
