Object: Safety network variable list (Receiver)

Symbol: _sil3_icon_snvl_receive.png

The "Safety network variable list (Receiver)" object is used for preparing the use of network variables, which were published by a safety network variable list (sender) in the project, within the safety application of a safety controller. For this purpose, a sender can be associated with the safety network variable list (receiver) and the network communication configured. The object is inserted into the device tree below the safety application object by clicking Project → Add Object → Safety network variable list (Receiver).

The editor includes the Safety configuration and PLC network tabs.

Area outside the tabs

Associated sender

Drop-down list with all Safety network variable list (Sender) that are available in the project and are not part of the same safety application as the Safety network variable list (Receiver) object.

. Possible entries
  • Safety network variable list (Sender) objects available in the project

  • Blank

  • <invalid>: The associated safety network variable list (sender) is no longer valid.

If a sender is selected in the drop-down list, then the variable declaration list and the following fields are populated automatically: Safety address of sender, Object version of sender

If the blank entry or <invalid> is selected, then the selection is reset. However, the existing variable declaration list, the Safety address of sender, and the Object version of sender remain unchanged.

Opens the currently associated sender in its editor.

Refresh

Refreshes the displayed sender information in the Safety configuration tab: Safety address of sender, Object version of sender, and the variable declaration list according to the linked safety network variable list (sender).

. Special cases
  • If a variable in the Name column has been renamed, then it remains unchanged as long as a variable is imported with the same name (Name in sender).

  • If a value is defined in the Comment column for an existing variable, then it remains unchanged after Refresh. (Deleting the comment causes importing again from the sender.)

Refreshes the list identifier in the PLC network tab according to the linked safety network variable list (sender), if the Use default destination network address and port option is activated.

(If not, then the list identifiers are not refreshed after Refresh.)

Tab: Safety Configuration

The tab is used for displaying the network variables of the associated safety network variable list (sender) and displaying and configuring the parameters of the safety network variable list (receiver).

Pin information

Display of the pin information of the safety application (or In work) if the object version deviates from the pinned version or if the safety application has not been pinned yet.

Pin information [ SafetyApp I <pin name> I <revision no.> I <pin CRC> I <last change> ]

Safety address of sender

Not editable

Initial value: 0

Object version of sender

Version number of the assigned Safety NLV (Sender) object which is entered in the object properties of the sender: View → Properties , Safety tab, Version input field.

Connection ID

Permitted input values: Whole numbers in the range 1...65535

Initial value: Unique whole number >= 1000 in entire project

Watchdog time

Specified in ms

Permitted values: 1…65 534

Initial value: 200

Variable list with the variables of the sender network variable lists

List of variable declaration of the associated sender network variable lists.

The list includes the Name in sender column in addition to the columns of the safety network variable list (sender), but not the Initial value column.

The following fields are editable in offline mode: Name, Comment. The received variable is made available by the name in the Name column in the safety application. At first, the name is the same as the Name in sender column. A name not already in the Name in sender column can be specified in the Name field.

Tab: PLC network

The tab is used for setting the configuration for network communication of the standard controllers.

Communication with main PLC of sender

Use default destination network address and port (255.255.255.255, 1202)

_cds_icon_checked.png: Resets the destination network address and ports for the list to default values

If the safety network variable list (receiver) is linked to a safety network variable list (sender) and this option is activated, then a valid list identifier is entered automatically in the list. This list identifier is also included in the list identifiers of the connected sender.

Columns:

List identifiers

First list identifier that is used for this connection.

Editable if Use default destination network address and port (255.255.255.255, 1202): is not activated.

Blank if the safety network variable list (receiver) is not linked to a safety network variable list (sender).

Second list identifier for the sender/receiver connection.

Set depending on the first List identifier:

List identifier + 1

Blank if the safety network variable list (receiver) is not linked to a safety network variable list (sender).

Destination network address

IP address of the sender

Editable if Use default destination network address and port (255.255.255.255, 1202): is not activated.

Can be used in order to establish a connection to a safety network variable list (sender) on a controller with a specific network IP address, instead of using the broadcast address. In this case, it may be necessary that the remote partner (sender) is also configured accordingly.

If the IP addresses of the controllers are set in this way, then the list identifiers must also be set correctly.

Port

Port of the destination network address for intended communication.

Editable if Use default destination network address and port (255.255.255.255, 1202): is not activated.

Can be used in order to specify a user-defined port for communication with the selected sender. The settings for the Port must agree on both sides of the sender/receiver connection so that communication can occur.

Object properties: Safety network variable list (Receiver)

The properties dialog includes the General, Safety, and Access Control tabs.

Safety CRC

CRC value for this safety network variable list (receiver)

Version

Editable

The Version can be assigned without restriction. The version can be used for quickly detecting the object version in the object list of the safety application object.
