Comparison editor

The comparison editor is used to compare the current project with a saved project and shows the differences between the pins in the current project and in the comparison project. It is opened by double-clicking the safety application object in the project comparison.

Important

The comparison editor is suitable for verification and acceptance of pinned application states.

The CODESYS Standard project comparison is not suitable for the verification and acceptance of a safety application. It is used only as an auxiliary function to open the comparison editors of changed objects.

Tip

The pins of the projects are compared, not the actual object states of the projects. Therefore, the view does not make any statement about whether or not the projects are "In Work" at the time of the comparison.

Important

The comparison view is available only for the safety application object.

There is no comparison view for all other objects in the Safety application.

The upper area of the editor shows the pin identifiers of the safety applications of both projects. The object list is after this. In this list, the information safeguarded in the pins (Version, Content CRC) of the individual objects of the safety applications are listed in the Current project and Comparison project columns and differences are highlighted in color.

  • Listing of the objects belonging to the safety application with

    • Line

      Sequential numbers of the entries

    • Type

      Object type (see: Layout of the tab)

    • Name

      Name of the object

    • Domain

      Name of the application to which the object belongs

    • Version and Content CRC

      Version and CRC of the object in the current project (Current project column)

    • Version and Content CRC

      Version and CRC of the object in the pin of the comparison project (Comparison project column)

Color coding of the differences between the pins in the current project and comparison project:

  • Insertions (the object is included in the pin of the current project, but not in the pin of the comparison project): green

  • Deletions (the object is not included in the pin of the current project, but is included in the pin of the comparison project): blue

  • Changes (the object is contained in both pins, but with different object states): red
