Dialog: Project Settings: Users and Groups

Symbol: _cds_icon_user_groups.png

Function: The dialog is used to configure the user management for the current project.

Call: Project → Project Settings command, Users and Groups category

Tab: Users

Displays the users and their memberships in groups

Add

Opens the Add User dialog

Edit

Opens the Edit User dialog

Delete

An error message appears if you attempt to delete the last user of a group, because a group has to have at least one member.

Input fields for setting up a new user account or changing an existing one

Active

_cds_icon_checked.png: (default) You can use the user account.

_cds_icon_option_deactivated.png: The user cannot log in. If the user repeatedly tries to log in with incorrect credentials, then this can result in automatic deactivation of the account (see below: Settings).

Memberships

List of all user groups which you have defined in addition to the Everyone group (to which each new user automatically belongs)

_cds_icon_checked.png <group name>: The new user belongs to the group.

Export Users and Groups

The command opens the default dialog for saving a file in the local file system. You can store the users and groups, which have been defined in the project, to a *.users file in XML format.

Import Users and Groups

The command opens the default dialog for searching for a file with the *.users extension in the local file system in order to read user and group definitions into the project.

A group can also be a member of a group.

Add

Opens the Add Group dialog

Edit

Opens the Edit Group dialog

Delete

When you delete a group, the user accounts of the members remain unchanged.

You cannot delete the Everyone and Owner groups.

A group can also be a member of a group.

Maximum number of authentication trials

_cds_icon_checked.png: (default) If the user has tried to log in with an incorrect password the number of times specified here, then the user account will be disabled.

_cds_icon_option_deactivated.png: The number of the unsuccessful attempts is unlimited.

Automatically logout after time of inactivity

_cds_icon_checked.png: The user is automatically logged out if CODESYS does not register any user actions from the mouse or keyboard during the time span (in minutes) as specified here.
