View: PLCs – Network Scan

Function: The view shows all PLCs which have been found for the selected gateway.

Call: CODESYS Automation Server → PLCs

Important

The names of the PLCs below a gateway have to be unique.

List box for the gateway

Displays all of the gateways added to the Automation Server

Search: Input field for a search string in order to find a specific gateway

Select all: The network scan is performed on all displayed gateways.

Multiselection is possible.

Input field for a search string in order to find a specific PLC

Searches the PLCs displayed at the selected gateway for the PLCs whose name contains the string specified in the search field

The display of found PLCs is refreshed for the selected gateway.

Opens the Add PLC by Hostname/IP dialog

Requirement: Only one gateway is selected.

Displays the advanced information about the respective PLC

Add to Server

Opens the Add PLC to Automation Server dialog

If there is already a PLC with the same name below the gateway, then the PLC can be added only via TCP/IP or the device has to be renamed. In this case, the corresponding message is displayed.

PLC Conflict

Indicates that there is already a PLC added on the Automation Server which is below the same gateway and has the same name. However, because it is not the same PLC, there is a conflict with the serial number, target ID, or device name.

When you click this button, the PLC Details view opens.

User Management

standard icon: A user management is enabled for the PLC.

Add to Server

The PLC is added to the Automation Server and displayed in PLCs → List View.

When the user management is enabled for the PLC, the User name and Password input fields are opened first to enter the credentials.

In order for the Automation Server to connect to a PLC, the credentials of a PLC user with administrator permissions have to be entered here.

The credentials are automatically saved in the configuration.

Find

Input field for a search string in order to find a specific PLC

Requirement: A user management is enabled for the PLC.

User name and password for the PLC

In order for the Automation Server to connect to a PLC, the credentials of a PLC user with administrator permissions have to be entered here.

The credentials are automatically saved in the configuration.

If no user management is enabled for the PLC, then a dialog prompt opens to notify you that a user management must be set up on the PLC. In this case, the User name, Password, and Repeat password input fields are displayed and the user data for the user management on the PLC can be specified. Then the user management is automatically set up on the PLC.

The specified credentials are copied to all lines below.

_cas_icon_option_activated.png: The Synchronize applications option is selected. The boot applications on the PLC can be synchronized with the applications of the CODESYS Automation Server. When this option is enabled, a dialog to confirm the synchronization of the applications opens first.

_cas_icon_option_activated.png: The Synchronize parameters option is selected. Variable values can be written to this PLC.

Confirm

The PLC is added to the Automation Server and displayed in PLCs → List View.
