Security in CODESYS 4
This chapter documents various security-relevant notices for you as a user of the CODESYS 4 software. The notices are grouped according to the subject areas they refer to. Each notice defines a target group for whom the notice is relevant.

Be sure to carefully read all notices which are relevant to your role and act on the recommended actions.
Identified target groups
End users: You are, for example, a software developer, commissioning engineer, or system operator who wants to use CODESYS 4 to develop, test, debug, or install IEC code and applications on end devices.
System administrators: You are, for example, a system administrator or an IT service provider whose job it is to provide CODESYS 4 as an application to your end users, either as a desktop application or as a service via the CODESYS 4 server.
Extension developers: This documentation does not cover the development of extensions. Read the corresponding sections in the documentation of the CODESYS 4 Extension Platform.
Important
Note: If you use CODESYS 4 as a desktop application on your own system and you have administrator privileges there, then you are also the system administrator of your own system. In this case, in addition to the instructions for end users, also read the instructions for system administrators and act on them.
