Installation as a Desktop Application for Windows

Requirements

  1. The .NET Desktop Runtime and ASP.NET Core Runtime runtime systems for Windows x64 must be installed with the latest minor version of the 8.0 branch.

    These runtime systems can be downloaded from Download .NET 8.0.

    When the latest version of the ".NET SDK for Windows x64" is installed, both of the .NET Desktop Runtime and ASP.NET Core Runtime runtime systems should already be installed.

  2. WebView2 Runtime

    By default, this runtime system is included in Windows 11.

    If it is not available on your system, then you will need either the "EvergreenBootstrapper" or the "Evergreen Standalone" installer, which you can download from the Download the WebView2 Runtime page.

Important

The setup of CODESYS 4 does not currently include a CODESYS Gateway or a CODESYS Runtime system. If you have not installed them yet, then you can download them from the CODESYS Store: CODESYS Control Win SL

Gateways suitable for CODESYS 3 can also be used in CODESYS 4. For example: CODESYS Edge Gateway for Windows

Installation of the setup

The CODESYS 4 package includes a ZIP archive which contains a prerelease version of the MSI installer for CODESYS 4.

  1. Double-click the CODESYS 4.msi file.

    The CODESYS 4 Setup wizard will open.

  2. Click Next.

  3. In the End-User License Agreement dialog, agree to the license terms and click Next.

  4. In the Destination Folder dialog, choose an installation directory for CODESYS 4 and click Next.

  5. In the Ready to install CODESYS 4 dialog, click the Install button.

    CODESYS 4 will be installed on your computer.

Starting CODESYS 4

The installation creates an entry in the Windows Start menu in order to start the web interface of CODESYS 4.

You can also start CODESYS 4 from the command line, for example using PowerShell.

In the following call, the default installation directory C:\Program Files\CODESYS-4 is specified as the file path. You may need to adapt the path in the command.
