Editor: Communication Settings
Function: The Communication Settings editor contains the communication settings for the applications of the project. The settings correspond to the description in the Communication.settings.json file.

Call:
Double-click the Communication.settings.json item.
Tile: Device
The tile shows information about the device currently selected for communication.

Button: Configure Device | Opens the Device Browser dialog. In the dialog, you select a gateway and a device or you add these. |
Dialog: Device Browser
In the dialog, you select an existing gateway and a device or you add a new gateway.

Gateway | Shows the available gateways in a list box |
Symbol: | Opens the Add Gateway dialog |
Symbol: | Searches for a device name. Specify a string for this. |
Button: Connect Device | Opens the Log In to Device <device name> dialog. The button is located below the device information in the right part of the dialog. Enter your user name and password. Then CODESYS 4 will establish a connection to the device. A notification next to the button indicates success or failure. |
Button: Select | Adds the selected device to the communication settings of the application |
Tip
If you are working with CODESYS 4 on a server, then you need to configure the communication settings (gateway) so that the controller can be reached from the server.
Dialog: Add Gateway
Clicking the plus sign will open the dialog. You create a gateway in this dialog.
