Setting up Permissions and a User Management for a Visualization

For a visualization, you can configure a user management and permission management which is linked to the user management on the controller. This variant is recommended for the highest possible level of security. It is called "runtime-based user management".

Runtime-based user management makes sure that users log in securely with up-to-date technology to all display variants of CODESYS Visualization. The credentials are managed using standard web technologies. In addition, at runtime via secure channels you can create user accounts, manage user credentials, and restrict user permissions according to the role of the user. You need to map the default user groups of the visualization user management (Administrator, Service Operator, None) to the device user groups available in the device editor.

Note

The outdated "legacy user management", which is limited exclusively to visualization, can still be used, but it is not recommended.

To set up and use runtime-based user management for CODESYS Visualization, see the following help pages:

Basic settings for using the user management for visualization can be configured in the CODESYS options: Options: Visualization User Management
