Tab: Encoder

Table 23. General encoder settings

Modulo

In a modulo drive, this option has to be activated and a Modulo value specified.

_cds_icon_radiobutton_activated.png: The drive turns endlessly without limiting the traversing range (example: belt drive).

The Modulo settings window is displayed:

  • Modulo value: Input field for the modulo value

The value is saved in the fPositionPeriod parameter of the AXIS_REF_SM3 function block.

Note: If you select the Modulo drive type, then the product fPositionPeriod * dwRatioTechUnitsDenom has to be an integer.

Finite

_cds_icon_radiobutton_activated.png: The drive is limited.

Bit width

List box for an appropriate bit width

Table 24. Scaling

Definition of the conversion of the integer positional values that are sent by the device; in increments and technical units that are used in an IEC application.

Invert direction

standard icon: The encoder receives the specified values with inversed signs and therefore rotates in the opposite direction of rotation.

increments < = > encoder rotations

Number of increments which correspond to the number of complete encoder rotations

encoder rotations <=> units in application

Number of encoder turns which correspond to units in application
