Overview

The CODESYS Package Designer is an integrated tool for creating "packages". Packages are used to add more functions and configuration settings to an existing CODESYS installation.

The CODESYS Package Designer supports the inclusion of all required components (for example, plug-ins, libraries, offline help, menu commands) into the package. The package configuration can be error-checked, and if there are no errors, then it can be saved as a file (<package name>.package). Moreover, the package can be exported uncompressed to a directory. And you can install the package directly on your computer.

When you create a new package, the tree structure of the package in the left part of the window automatically contains the following required objects:

  • General

  • Component

  • String Table

  • File Table

  • Package References

  • Release Notes

  • Third Party Licenses

  • TargetDirectoryDefinitions

Below the Component object, you can use the Add command in the context menu to add more package elements. The options depend on the element in the package tree which is currently selected. It is possible to open an existing CODESYS project archive to add all contained components into the current package configuration.

The configuration of an individual element of the tree structure is done in the right side of the view by means of the descriptions which are displayed below them in the view.
