Licensing

The module editor of CODESYS Application Composer does not require a license. However, the module declaration editor, which is used to create custom modules and generate an application with custom modules from the module editor, does require a license. If you do not have a valid license, then the module declaration editor is not available.

In version 4.4.0.0 and higher, the license is incremented according to the number of instances of custom modules. The standard modules of CODESYS Application Composer (for example, Persistence Manager, DataLog Manager, Sequence Editor) are not counted in this.

Licenses are available in the following increments: 100, 500, 2500, 12500. You can use the Get License Information command to display the module instances used in your project as well as the maximum number of module instances of the current license. When the application is created, CODESYS checks that the license is sufficient and displays an error message if necessary.

If the number of module instances used in the project exceeds the maximum value of the license, then the license must be extended. If you want to use CODESYS Application Composer with your own modules or if you need a larger license, then contact the sales department.
